State officials have paid courtesy visits to Christian leaders on Christmas while the nation’s Christian community and churches nationwide are busy with preparations for the holiday.

Mr. Pham The Duyet, chairman of the Viet Nam Fatherland Front’s Central Committee, on Thursday paid a visit to Cardinal Pham Minh Man, who is in charge of the Ho Chi Minh City archdiocese.
Mr. Duyet hailed contributions by the city’s Christian dignitaries and followers to national development. He called for further contributions from the people, priests of different levels and nuns.
On the same day, the Viet Nam Committee for Solidarity of Catholicism held a meeting to celebrate Christmas. Mr. Huynh Dam, Vice President and General Secretary of the Viet Nam Fatherland Front, participated in the meeting, wishing a merry Christmas for all Catholic officials and Christians nationwide.
Officials from the Government’s Committee for Religious Affairs paid visits to the Ha Noi Bishophoric Office and the northern Protestant Church.
In Ho Chi Minh City, Mr. Nguyen Van Dua, deputy Party chief, led a delegation to pay a visit to Cardinal Pham Minh Man.
The cardinal expressed his thanks to the city government. He called for the city authorities to continue supporting Christians in taking part in charity activities such as caring for HIV carriers.
The delegation also visited the Ho Chi Minh City Committee for Solidarity of Catholicism and the southern Protestant Church.
