Workers at the Trai Bo Ecotourism Zone in Dien Lam Commune in the central province of Nghe An were shocked when a yellow tiger pair gave birth to three cubs, of which two were born yellow and one was born white.

Each of the three cubs weighs about 1.2 kg and is in good health.

The tiger parents were imported from a zoo in South Africa in September 2009 as native tigers are believed to have been wiped out in Vietnam.

The pair was bred in half captive and half wild terrain. The tiger mother was pregnant for 110-114 days.

This is said to be the first recorded case of a yellow tiger pair delivering a white cub in South East Asia, said a tourist manager.
