Over 100 Otters in Gia Rai Shrimp-Breeding Farm

Otters are found in Lam Dien Hamlet, Long Dien Tay Commune, Dong Hai District.

While patrolling the mangrove swamp, workers of the Gia Rai shrimp-breeding farm (in Lam Dien Hamlet, Long Dien Tay Commune, Dong Hai District) usually see tens of otters hunting fishes and shrimps in the gullies.

It is estimated that there are over 100 otters in black and grey fur living in the farm; some are 7-8 kilograms in weight.

Especially, this bunch of otters often hunted in the shrimp-breeding ponds of households near the Gia Rai farm, and once killed a dog of the farm.

The farm is an ecosystem of mangrove forest, so it is a habitat for not only otters, but also for many cobras and rare kinds of bird.
