Party General Secretary Nong Duc Manh left Ha Noi on Oct. 10 for an official visit to Laos at the invitation of Choummaly Sayasone, Secretary General of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party and State President of Laos.
General Secretary Manh is accompanied by Nguyen Sinh Hung, Politburo member of the Party Central Committee, Permanent Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of Vietnamese subcommittee to the Viet Nam-Laos Joint Committee for Cooperation; Pham Gia Khiem, Politburo member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Prime Minister and also Foreign Minister; Nguyen Van Son: Chairman of the Party Central Committee's Commission for External Relations; Ngo Van Du, member of the Party Central Committee and Head of its Office.

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung while receiving Lao Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Somsavat Lengsavat in Ha Noi on Oct. 9. said that Viet Nam's government would do its best to boost the Viet Nam-Laos cooperation, especially in trade, investment and education and training, thus contributing to the development of traditional relations between the two Parties, States and people.
The PM suggested the two countries continue enhancing cooperation in such fields as hydro-power, cultivation of agricultural crops, mining and processing, and personnel training. Both countries should work together to deal with difficulties arising during the implementation of cooperation programmes in 2006 as well as effectively implement these programmes for the year 2007, he said.
The Lao Deputy PM proposed the two countries avoid repeated inspections of their cooperative projects in order to facilitate enterprises, tourists and bilateral trade relations.-
