Petrol price rumors cause panic buying in Ha Noi

A recent rumor that petrol prices would increase from February 18 brought crowds of panic buyers at petrol stations in Ha Noi late evening February 17.
Consumers flock to Tran Hung Dao station in Ha Noi to buy petrol on Tuesday.

From 7 to 8 pm, many Hanoians flocked to petrol stations to hoard large amounts of petrol due to a price increase rumor.
Some privately owned petrol stations decided to close until prices went up.
However, petrol prices still remain the same.
Local petrol firms recently submitted a proposal to the government to increase petrol prices since they are currently losing VND500 per liter.
In response, the Prime Minister directed the Ministry of Trade and Ministry of Finance to quickly consider the case and provide a solution to adjust local prices in accordance with fluctuations in world petrol prices.
