President Tran Dai Quang pays official visit to India

Vietnamese President Tran Dai Quang and his wife led a high- ranking delegation to arrive in capital of New Delhi yesterday evening (following the local time) starting a state visit to the Republic of India from March 2-4.

The official visit is being made at the invitation of Indian President Ram Nath Kovind. 

As plan, Bodh Gaya, a religious site in Gaya district in the Indian state of Bihar will be the first destinations of the delegation. 

At a reception with Minister of Agriculture in the Government of Bihar Prem Kumar, President Tran Dai Quang expressed his pleasure to visit the religious site, one of the most sacred places of Buddhism. 

Vietnam and India have had historical, cultural and religious relations that are considered as the foundation of cultural convergence between the countries’ people and good friendship ties between Vietnam and India, stressed Mr. Tran Dai Quang.

Additionally, the Vietnamese leader desired Bihar would continue strengthening cooperation with Vietnam’s localities in the coming time. 

Minister Prem Kumar affirmed that the visit showed respect of Vietnam for culture, religious relations between Vietnam and India; and Bihar would create the best favorable condition, ensuring security and safety for Vietnamese Buddhist monks and nuns to Bodh Gaya.

On the same day, the delegation visited Vietnam Phat Quoc tu (Vietnam Bouddha Bhumi Vihara), the first pagoda of Vietnam in Bodh Gaya.

Accordingly, the visit has taken place in the context of Vietnam- India traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation since the two countries established the strategical partnership relations in 2007 and lifting their ties to a comprehensive strategical partnership ties in 2016. 

Since establishment of the strategical partnership relations in 2007, both sides expanded and implemented projects relating to cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, investment, security and defense, education science, culture, tourist, agriculture…

Of these, economy and trade are considered as major strategies for development of Vietnam- India partnership ties.
