President urges Front to play more active role in fighting corruption

Vietnamese President Truong Tan Sang on Wednesday urged the Vietnam Fatherland Front to play a more active role in Party-building work, especially in fighting against corruption.

The State President said this at the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee’s fourth meeting in Ho Chi Minh City.

He said the Front at all levels needs to encourage the people to involving in detecting and disclosing cadres and Party members who are involved in corruption, and diverge in political thought, ethics and lifestyle no matter who they are and no matter what levels.

The President said the Front needs to supervise and urge the strict punishment of all violations in line with the Party’s discipline and under Vietnamese laws.

He added the Front should timely propose the Party and State to honor those who contribute to Party-building work and protect those who bravely fight against corruption and wrong doings.

The President asked the Front to continue to improve the quality of their work.

Delegates at the meeting discussed the fight against corruption and wrong doings, fostering democracy, improving living conditions for children and residents in remote areas, fighting against cadres’ and Party members’ deviation in ethics and lifestyle.

Ho Chi Minh City Party chief Le Thanh Hai also attended the meeting, which keeps going on Thursday.
