Quang Nam fishermen receive two steel hull fishing boats

Bien Viet Sea Technology Company on Friday organized a ceremony to hand over two steel hull fishing boats worth VND32 billion (US$1.41 million) to two fishermen in the central province of Quang Nam.

Fishermen Pham Be and Duong Van Hai from Tam Giang commune, Nui Thanh district received the new modern boats at the ceremony attended by representatives of the Quang Nam Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and Nui Thanh district People’s Committee.

The 882CV boats are 26m in length and 7.3m in width, designed with five cargo holds and equipped with GPS trackers, long-range communication devices and other modern equipment. They are expected to set out to sea in the next three months.

Mr. Ngo Tan, deputy director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development said the two vessels were the 29th and 30th in the province’s steel hull fishing boat fleet.
According to Decree 67 and 89 on seafood development assistance, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development assigns Quang Nam to build 92 steel hull vessels including 83 fishing boats and nine logistics service boats. The province has completed disbursement to build 59 ones.
So far, Quang Nam has had large vessels with the capacity of 1,100 CV together with a fleet of 400 fishing boats operating in the waters of the Truong Sa (Spratly) and Hoang Sa (Paracel) Islands.
