There was an increase of 2.1 percent and 1.3 percent in the number of accidents and victims compared with the year before.
Accordingly, building safety culture at the workplace is current trend bringing practical and economic benefits for enterprises and laborers as well as helping improve work condition, productivity and preventing work-related accidents.
These issues were discussed at a seminar named “ Role of safety culture in reduce occupational accidents” held by Ho Chi Minh City Science of Occupational Safety and Health Institute on September 6 with the participation of foreign and local experts.
Speaking about losses caused by work related accidents, institute President Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Hai said in 2017, accidents at the workplace in HCMC cost VND19 billion ($815,783 ) and more than 26,200 work days lost.
work-related accidents have claimed lives of workers and the loss of income can be especially distressing at a time when the family is hardest hit by grief and personal loss.
At the seminar, experts from the US, South Korea, Malaysia and Australia shared experiences in reducing such accidents and training employees.
