Taxi driver rewarded for brave deed

A Da Nang taxi driver has received a cash award of VND4 million (US$240) and a certificate of merit for helping the police nab a robber who tried to hold up a jewelry shop this month.

Phan Phu Tri, 29, received them yesterday at the office of Mai Linh transport company, for whom he works, from Tran Van Minh, chairman of the city People’s Committee.

Colonel Nguyen Dinh Chinh, deputy director of the city police, had recommended to the city administration to reward the brave driver.

Chairman of the city People’s Committee also handed over an award of VND 2 million (US$120) to officers of unit PC22 for catching the robber red-handed.
