Thousand farmers join discussion on climate change

The Central Highlands Agriculture and Forestry Science Institute (WASI) and Petrovietnam Fertilizer & Chemicals Corporation (PVFCCo) have just co-held a discussion on climate change and sustainable agriculture development in Dak Lak and Gia Lai province.

The Central Highlands Agriculture and Forestry Science Institute (WASI) and Petrovietnam Fertilizer & Chemicals Corporation (PVFCCo) have just co-held a discussion on climate change and sustainable agriculture development in Dak Lak and Gia Lai province.

The Agriculture and Rural Development in the Central Highlands provinces said that more than 110,700 hectares of industrial and fruit trees in the 2016- 2017 crop were wilted because of the hot and dry weather.

Around 490 hectares of pepper and coffee crops were also destroyed by the impact of climate change.

In the discussion, Director of WASI Truong Hong provided solutions and measures to reduce impacts of climate change, develop regional sustainable agriculture, nutrition and disease for tree.

The event attracted the participation of over 1,000 farmers, agricultural scientists, leaders from Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, Encouragement Association of Agriculture, Forestry and Fishery of Dak Lak and Gia Lai, aiming to share farming experience, raise efficiency for using fertilizer in the nowadays context of climate change.
