Thousands of Vietnamese laborers sit Korean-language tests

Tens of thousands of Vietnamese laborers who wish to work in South Korea as per the Employment Permit System (EPS) sat for a Korean language test on June 23.

The exam took place in the Labor and Social Affairs University in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. EPS including three exams on paper, replacing the computer exams used in previous years was held by Vietnamese Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs and Korean Ministry of Employment and Labor’s Human Resources Development Service following the agreement signed before.
According to the Korean requirements, Vietnamese laborers who wish to work in Korea must master the language by taking the exam organized by the Korean Ministry of Employment and Labor’s Human Resources Development Service.
Additionally, those who want to work in fisheries sector, must pass the skills exam, after passing a Korean language contest. Only candidates passing language and skill exams are eligible for registering to work in South Korea as per the EPS.
The Department of Overseas Labor Management said that 11,62 Vietnamese candidates wishing to work in manufacturing, Korean need 6,300 workers. Therefore, total recruitment targets for both manufacturing and fisheries are 7,900 people.
The language exam will recruit employees for manufacturing sector one June 23 and 24 while for fisheries on August 20-24.
