Thousands walk, run for kids’ charities

More than 5,000 people took part in a walk to raise funds for disadvantaged children in Ho Chi Minh City on November 22.

The walk, organized by the Vietnam and Singapore Red Cross, collected more than VND2.5 billion (over US$100,000).

Actor Edmund Chen, a goodwill ambassador of the Singapore Red Cross, and Duong Truong Thien Ly, second runner-up of Miss Universe Vietnam 2008, took part.

On the same day, the Embassy of Canada, Vietnam-Canada Friendship Association, and Hanoi’s Union of Friendship Associations organized a run to raise funds for poor children with fatal diseases.

The run raised more than VND1 billion ($50,000) which will be donated to the Hanoi Heart Hospital, Central Children Hospital and Vietnam Heart Rhythm Fund.
