The US citizens are Nguyen Thuong Cuc, 58, who goes by the name Foshee Thuong Nguyen in America; Huynh Bich Lien, 51; and Le Van Binh, 31. The four Vietnamese nationals are Cao Tri, 35; Tran Dat Phuong, 65; Ho Van Giau, 53; and Ho Van Hien, 36.

Representatives of the US Consulate General were present for the hearing, which began at 8 am.

The prosecution claims the seven accused plotted in 2005 to take over the airwaves of the Voice of Vietnam and local radio stations and use these to interfere with the electronic signals sent to aircraft and cause planes to collide.
