Tropical low-pressure develops into 3rd storm

The 3rd storm in 2018 named Son Tinh centered at 19.4 degrees north latitude, 117.0 degrees east longitude at 10am this morning, said the national center for hydro meteorological forecasting.

The typhoon is 680km from Hainan Island with the strongest wind speed at 60 to 75 km per hour.

It is forecast in the next 24 hours, the typhoon will move west west north with 35km per hour. At 10am July 18, its center will be 19.5 degrees north latitude, 108.5 east longitude on the sea of Tokin Gulf, 270km off Hai Phong to Ha Tinh provinces. The strongest wind speed will be from 60 to 75km per hour.

Due to the impact of the storm, the north area of East Sea including Hoang Sa Archipelago will experience torrential rains. The areas of near Tokin Gulf will have strong winds of level 10, high wave at 4 to 6m and rough sea.

In the next 24 hours, the storm will keep moving toward the west with 25 to 30km per hour and effects directly to offshore areas of the northern north central. The center forecast the storm will weaken into tropical low-pressure then.
