Uong Bi Thermal Power Plant in Quang Ninh Province
Uong Bi Thermal Power Plant, Quang Ninh Province, May 21 successfully reconnected to the national power grid to supply at an initial capacity of 100 megawatts (MW) a day.

The coal powered plant’s capacity will soon rise to 250 MW when it reaches the desirable latent heat.

The first stage of the project was funded US$300 million to build a plant with a capacity of 300 MW per day.

The plant connected to the national power grid for the first time on December 18, 2006 but after a short time, it had to call a halt due to a technical breakdown.

The plant is expected to contribute around 2.68 billion kilowatts a year to the country’s electricity grid.
