Uruguay’s top legislator begins Vietnam visit

On the invitation of Vietnam National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung, President of the Chamber of Deputies of Uruguay Anibal Pereyra arrived in Vietnam yesterday, had a meeting with NA Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung and signed a cooperative agreement between the two countries.

At the meeting, NA Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung affirmed that Vietnam wanted to cooperate with Uruguay following bilateral relations at international forums.

In order to strengthen the friendly relationship, the chairman suggested the two countries should participate actively in implementing cooperative agreements, support each other at international, regional and multilateral forums as Int'l parliamentary Union.

On this occasion, NA Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung invited the President Chamber of Deputies of Uruguay to participate in Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Assembly in Hanoi in March, aiming to contribute to success of the conference as well as parliamentary relations between the two countries.

Chamber of Deputies of Uruguay President Anibal Pereyra expressed his thanks to NA Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung and the Vietnamese people for their warm welcome and affirmed that Uruguay was willing to support Vietnam in all fields.

This is the first time the delegation traveled to Vietnam under target of strengthening friendly relations between the two sides, President Anibal Pereyra said.

Uruguay has chosen Asia including Vietnam as a strategic region in its development and integration, he added.

After the talks, National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung and President of the Chamber of Deputies of Uruguay Anibal Pereyra signed the cooperative agreement between the two countries.
