Viet Nam and India Strengthen Friendly Ties

President Nguyen Minh Triet (M) happy at friendship with Indian

State President Nguyen Minh Triet has expressed his joy at the recent fine development of relations with India while meeting with Pallab Sen Gupta, General Secretary of the All-India Peace and Solidarity Association, in Ha Noi on August 12.

Triet said “Since the strategic partnership was established, the two countries have moved closer and recorded major progress in various fields, from economy to education and science-technology”.

He also recalled the mutual assistance the two countries have for decades extended to each other in their past struggle for national independence as well as in the current economic development.

“Based on the traditional relationship and high-level commitments as well as the two peoples’ efforts, Viet Nam and India will make a huge leap in their strategic partnership in the interest of economic development and national construction in each country,” the State President emphasised.

In return, Pallab Sen Gupta, who is also Politburo member of the Communist Party of India (CPI), and his entourage expressed admiration of Vietnam’s great achievements in post-war national reconstruction.

They said as emerging economies, India and Viet Nam should further promote relations between mass organisations at this point as a necessary contribution to strengthening the strategic partnership as committed by leaders of the two countries.

Gupta is leading an Indian delegation comprising representatives of political and mass organisations, artists, teachers, journalists, entrepreneurs and scientists on a visit to Viet Nam to attend the second Viet Nam-India People’s Friendship Festival
