Viet Nam, Cambodia Improve Border Cooperation

The visit of Vietnamese PM Minister Nguyen Tan Dung (C) to Cambodia on Dec 18 proves the strong relationship between the two countries.

Cambodia and Viet Nam plan to work more closely to improve their border provinces’ living standards and economy, by stepping up trade, building infrastructure and preventing security threats.

The opening ceremony of the "Viet Nam- Cambodia Border Provinces’ Cooperation and Development" forum, the third of its kind in 2006, was held this morning in the southern province of An Giang, Viet Nam.

Addressing the ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Sinh Hung welcomed the attendance of his Cambodian counterpart and the country’s delegation of high-ranking officials, saying their participation would make great contributions to consolidating and boosting the current strong relationship between Viet Nam and Cambodia in general and the people in the 21 border provinces in particular.

Participants have discussed and proposed measures to improve the border provinces’ future development regarding the socio-economic cooperation and the border security maintenance

As planned, a joint press release on the cooperation of Viet Nam- Cambodia border provinces was issued this afternoon.
