Viet Nam Fatherland Front Central Committee visits Quan Su Pagoda

Mr Le Truyen gave garland of flowers to The Vietnamese Buddhist Sangha

A delegation of the Viet Nam Fatherland Front Central Committee led by Standing Vice Chairman, Le Truyen paid a visit to Vietnamese Buddhist Sangha at Quan Su Pagoda, Ha Noi on the occasion of the 2550th Buddha’s Birthday (Buddhism Calendar) and the 25th anniversary of Vietnamese Buddhist Sangha.

The visit, made on May 10, also marked the UNESCO's recognition of annual Buddha’s Birthday as the World’s Religious Festival Day.

Mr. Le Truyen highly appreciated the building of new pagodas in many localities. He hopes to see much more strengthened solidarity and involment from the Vietnamese Buddhist Sangha in the national march towards the common goals of a well-developed country.

Superior Buddhist monk Thich Thanh Nhieu, Vice Secretary General of the Viet Nam Central Buddhist Sangha said that as 2006 falls into the even year of Buddhism Calendar 2550, most of the ceremonies welcoming the Buddha’s Birthday will be held more formally than those of previous years.

Beside many celebrations in other localities, Vietnamese Buddhist Sangha will organize a great festival day on April 15 (Lunar Year).

Many charitable works will be organized in some places for the poor and disadvantaged people.

President of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland’s Front, Pham The Duyet,  sent a greeting message to the Vietnamese Buddhist Sangha on the 2550th Buddha’s Birthday (Buddhism Calendar).

An exhibition of Buddhist art and culture opened on the same day to add to the exciting atmosphere of the Buddha’s Birthday.

Up to 92 paintings and photographs of 32 art-lovers and members from many art clubs, are on display at the exhibition. The exhibition will last till May 14, 2006.
