Viet Nam to Host APEC 2006 WLN Meeting

The Women Leaders Network (WLN) Meeting 2006 under the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) is scheduled to be held by the Viet Nam Women's Union between August 28 and 31 this year.

350 to 400 delegates, including female leaders of 21 APEC economies are expected to participate in the meeting to exchange their experiences on the facilitation of women entrepreneurs, promotion in the mutual cooperation and friendship of APEC women, the enhancement of the women’s leaderships in the Asia Pacific region.

Beside the main theme "Towards a Dynamic Community – Promotion of Women’s Role for Sustainable Development and Prosperity", delegates at the meeting this year will focus their talks on three sub-themes including "For an Active and Effective Development of Economies", "Creating a Sustainable Development" and "Women Leaders Network Promotion in its 2nd Decade".

The delegates will draft a common recommendation, which will be submitted at the APEC Ministers' Meeting on Small and Medium Enterprises and the APEC Summit in November.

The WLN meeting is a flexible network of women, which was established within the framework of the APEC after the Fourth World Conference on Women in 1995. The annual meetings have been convened ever since 1996.
