Vietnam Airlines earns record high profit in 2016

National flag carrier Vietnam Airlines (VNA) on January 1 reported that the corporation earned the record high pre-tax profit of VND2.5 trillion (US$109.85 million) last year, up 140 percent over the previous year and 7 percent beyond plan.

The total revenue of the corporation and member companies was estimated to top VND76 trillion, up 10 percent over 2015.

Of the total revenue and pre-tax profit, VNA got VND59.1 trillion and VND1.6 trillion. The company contributed VND4.9 trillion to the state budget, an increase of nearly 11 percent over the previous year.

According to a VNA representative, right management measures have helped the corporation achieve good growth rate, higher than expected passenger and cargo transport outputs. Flight network has continuously been expanded amid severe competition in the aviation market.

This year, the company plans to focus its resources on the lunar yearned travel season and further improve its aircraft quality.
