Vietnam coastguards save Chinese fishing boat

Vietnam Coast Guard on December 24 towed a Chinese fishing boat safely on shore after the boat broke down and drifted into the waters of Khanh Hoa Province.

On December 23, six fishmen on the Chinese fishing boat Jihang lost control of steering so they had to let their boat float freely which later drifted into the exclusive economic zone of Vietnam.

After receiving the news, the Vietnam Coast Guard Command sent a rescue team to look for the boat. The rescue team found the boat at about 1.50 pm on the same day after searching for the boat for nearly five hours in rough weather and provided medical support, foods, and necessaries to six fishmen on the Chinese boat.

After going on shore, Vietnam Coast Guard transferred the matter to the Vietnam Border Defense Force of Khanh Hoa Province to settle.

In related news, Da Nang Maritime Rescue Coordination Center said that the center salvage ship, SAR 274, had approached and successfully saved the fishing boat, BD 97184 TS, from Binh Dinh Province with 13 fishmen on it.
