Vietnam, Facebook cooperate to prevent anonymous profiles

A meeting between Vietnamese Minister of Information and Communication and the head of global policy management at Facebook was held on April 26 to discuss the purification for Facebook content at a time when anti-state and illegal information is flooding the social network. 

Minister Tuan said that in addition to huge benefit that Facebook produces, it has generated many bad consequences. Many people are using the social network in a way that goes against the law, such as inciting war and violence, breaching the privacy of other individuals and organizations or defaming other people, through anonymous Facebook profiles.

Seriously, some people are impostors for Vietnam’s governors; accordingly, the Minister expected Facebook manager to work with Vietnam in removing these illegitimate information promising that Vietnamese government will create favorite condition for Facebook’s development in the Southeast Asian country provided that Facebook works in international practice and Vietnam’s law, said Minister Tuan.

All the content as fake account, libel, hostile attack ... will not be a sanctuary on Facebook and we are committed to remove if it receives such information ", Ms. Monika Bickert confirmed with Minister Truong Minh Tuan.

Facebook has launched the policy of standards, provisions for people to understand that they are protected safe use as well as their responsibilities on Facebook. 

When users detected fake account, they are encouraged to report to Facebook. She promised to liaise with the Ministry in removing anonymous profiles which are impostors of Vietnam’s administrators as well as set up a separate channel to coordinate directly with the Ministry of Information and Communication to help Facebook priorities meet the requirements from the Ministry and the competent authorities Vietnam.

Moreover, Facebook will coordinate with the Ministry to hold training courses for small and medium enterprises in contribution to the country’s economic growth as well as for state employees who will spread goof information of policies and law.
