Vietnam needs US$ 30bln to carry out national green growth strategy

A conference titled “Towarding a sustainable and green growth”, in the frame of Mekong Delta Economic Cooperation –Soc Trang 2014”, opened on November 7.

Scientists said the national green growth strategy in Vietnam is to boost restructuring process and perfectizing the economic institution with aiming to use the natural resource effectively; raise the competitive and contribute to cope with the implementation of the national climate change strategy and ensure the sustainable economic growth.

However, in order to carry out this strategy, the country needs US$ 30billion by 2020, said Prof Pham Hoang Mai, Head of (Ministry of Planning & Investment) MPI’s Science, Education, Natural Resources and the Environment Department.

MPI's Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Hieu said green produce with aiming towards green economy has to cope with many difficulties such as capital, while Vietnam is lack of policies about mobilizing capital and investment capital, on the other hand, the projects of green energy are still carrying out very slow.

Delegates affirmed that the relationship between enterprises and farmers in the Mekong Delta is premise to change the agricultural sector, forwarding to consume and produce green.
