Vietnamese President Truong Tan Sang visited the Vietnam Ethnic Culture-Tourism Village in Hanoi on February 4, saying that the Party and State always considered culture as the spiritual foundation of the society.
“The Party and State always views culture as the spiritual foundation of the society, a drive to boost national socio-economic development, and a factor associated with the country’s industrialization and modernization,” he said.

He visited different sections in the Culture-Tourism Village, home to residences of various ethnic minorities groups such as Khmer, Ede, Tay, Nung, Dao, and Thai. The State leader witnessed a Red Dao ethnic wedding staged by artisan Phan Van Phu and young ethnic people from the northern mountainous province of Tuyen Quang.
During the Lunar New Year visit the Culture-Tourism Village, he said that he wished all the ethnic peoples a happy and prosperous New Year.
In his instructions, Mr. Sang said the Village’s experts and technicians needed to focus on making the tourism site a national cultural project to preserve the cultural values of ethnic groups. He reiterated the Party’s and State’s policy on building and developing a progressive Vietnamese culture imbued with national identity.
Also Saturday in Hanoi, the President attended a tree planting festival organized by the Party Committee of the centrally-run agencies bloc.
He went on to pay a working visit to the northern province of Thai Binh.
