Vietnam strengthens cooperation on prevention and control of illegal migration

The 14th Ad Hoc Group Senior Officials' Meeting (AHG SOM 14) of the Bali Process on People Smuggling, Trafficking in Persons and Related Transnational Crime was held in Da Nang city yesterday.

This event attracted more than 100 delegates from 25 countries and territories. This is the first time Vietnam hosted AHG SOM since the country has been membership of the Bali Process in February, 2002.

At the meeting, they summarized the activities over the past time as well as exchanged and prioritized the upcoming activities of the Bali Process to match the trend of migration management in the world.

According to Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs To Anh Dung, in addition to preventing and combating illegal migration and human trafficking, the Bali Process should consider measures to promote safe, legal migration and integrated strategic cooperation in the coming time. 

The meeting is also an opportunity to raise Vietnam's position as well as express a responsible member with the world’s issues which contributes to the peace, stability and prosperity of the region and the world.
