Vietnam supports power bill

The Prime Minister approved support of the bill to disburse electricity for poor households and beneficiaries of social policies.

These households will receive financial assistance if they use more than 30 kWh and less than 50 kWh per month.

The Prime Minister also passed a bill regulating retail price for electricity starting June 1, 2014. Retail prices for business consumption will differ during off-peak and peak hours. (Peak hours are from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. weekdays. Off-peak hours are from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m weekdays).

Prices for personal household consumption will have six levels of pricing to encourage energy-saving habits.
