Vietnam targets $9 billion seafood export value by 2020

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has approved a program which targets the export value of US$8-9 billion by 2020.

According to the program on sustainable seafood economic development in the phase of 2016-2020, seafood production value growth rate will average 6 percent a year and total output will reach 5.6-7 million tons.
One of missions of the program is to develop seafood farming investment, improve study ability, gradually modernize and industrialize aquatic breed production and expand application of Good Aquaculture Practices for Fish Farming (GAP-FF).
Besides, the program will synchronously develop infrastructure system in the Mekong Delta, the Red River delta and central coastal provinces to ensure that 100 percent of farms and farming zones will meet quality and food safety and hygiene standards.
