Vietnam tightens control of pesticide smuggling

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development yesterday sent Minister Cao Duc Phat’s direction to municipal and provincial people’s committees  and related agencies asking to increase inspection and issue penalties on smuggling, trading and using pesticide into Vietnam.

Currently The increase in smuggling, trading and using of pesticide, agricultural produce preservation and plant growth stimulants into Vietnam caused concerns among consumers.

Accordingly, the Ministry ordered authorities to instruct farmers not to use illicit pesticide as well as seize these toxic substances and issue harsh penalties on those intentionally violate the regulation.

Minister Cao Duc Phat proposed local governments to try their best in fighting pesticide illegal trade.
