Though the price storm increasing in the beginning of the year, Ha Noi and Ho Chi Minh City have fallen remarkably in the list of the world’s most expensive cities, reported the Mercer Global Consulting Company.

Ha Noi went from the 35th place to 91st place and Ho Chi Minh City dropped 60 steps to rank 100th position.

The survey covered 142 cities in the world based on cost of housing, transport, clothes, entertainment, and consumption.

Viet Nam is less expensive now because the dong is pegged to the dollar and the value of the dollar has declined. This is one of the most important factors in attracting foreign investment capital, said Mercer’s experts. Foreign investment capital is US$45.3 billion in the first seven months of this year.
