Malaysian Foreign Minister Syed Hamid Albar held talks on Thursday with Vietnamese President Tran Duc Luong and Prime Minister Phan Van Khai in Ha Noi on expanding cooperation in trade, science and technology.

President Tran Duc Luong and Prime Minister Phan Van Khai highly appreciated the agreement by the two countries’ Ministries of Foreign Affairs to carry out the action plan of the Viet Nam-Malaysia joint statement for economic, technical and scientific cooperation.
The two Vietnamese leaders said Viet Nam wants to strengthen its relations with Malaysia in the fields of national defense, labor, agriculture, forestry, fisheries, oil, science and technology, tourism, culture, information, education and training, sports and youth issues.
The Malaysian Foreign Minister has visited Viet Nam at the invitation of his Vietnamese counterpart Nguyen Dy Nien.
