The 2014 Mekong Delta Economic Cooperation Forum (MDEC) was closed on November 7, with practical results like expanding cooperation and promoting trade investment opportunities in Mekong Delta region in the upcoming years.
Soc Trang is a host province for the 2014 Mekong Delta Economic Cooperation Forum. The local authority and organizing board prepared well everything in order to create good expressions for Vietnamese and foreign investors
The turning point in the 2014 Mekong Delta Economic Cooperation is reorganization and signing memorial text between Soc Trang with three investors, including Long Phu 2 thermoelectrical factory, Vinh Chau wind power electricity factory and Phu Cuong 1 wind power electricity factory. Three factories have invested in Soc Trang with total capital of US$ 3 billion.
At the 2014 MDEC, the organizing board also praised great contributions of domestic and foreign enterprises, individuals and bank systems through donating VND 480 billion for Mekong Delta region in social security activities.
On the same day, a conference under title of “Toward a sustainable productive industry” was celebrated in the framework of the 2014 MDEC.
The annual forum has focused on agricultural restructuring in the Mekong Delta region as well as creating favorable opportunities for businessmen in the Mekong Delta, Ho Chi Minh City, Ha Noi and foreign countries to invest in the Mekong Delta region’s agricultural industry.
Over past seven years, the MDEC was taken place in Ho Chi Minh City, Can Tho, An Giang, Ca Mau, Tien Giang and Vinh Long.
