‘Youth Month 2012’ programme was launched in a ceremony in Ho Chi Minh City on February 26 under the theme “Youth action for development of City”.

The programme will include diverse activities such as mobilising members of the HCMC City Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union to help maintain traffic order, provide jobs for about 10,000 youth and build 50 charitable houses.
It will also help train 30,000 members of the HCMC City Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union.
After the launch ceremony, young people took part in various activities including raising awareness of traffic order and safety, collecting signatures of 100,000 motorbike owners undertaking a pledge for no-violation of traffic law, organising game shows and a painting competition about road traffic laws.
They also helped clean up the polluted Van Thanh Canal in Binh Thanh District, planted 4,500 trees along Cay Tram Canal in Thu Duc District and in Hiep Phuoc Commune of Nha Be District.
A delegation of young doctors will provide free treatment and medicines to people in 28 communes throughout the city during the Youth Month.

In addition, the HCMC City Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union opened a Ho Chi Minh City Vocational Training and Job Centre, called the ‘Yes Centre’ in Go Vap District on February 26.
The ‘Yes Centre’ along with some businesses offered 10,000 vocational consultant positions to young people in the district and 70 scholarships.
On the same day, more than 1,000 Youth Union members and students participated in the Youth Month and Traffic Safety Year 2012 in Binh Duong Province.
The provincial authorities will build two charitable houses worth VND30 million each for Youth Union members in Tan Vinh Hiep Commune and Uyen Hung Town in Tan Uyen District.
‘Youth Month 2012’ was also kicked off at the Ly Tu Trong Commemoration Area in Viet Xuyen Commune of Thach Ha District in Ha Tinh Province on February 26 with many activities such as building and upgrading over 100km of an agricultural road, building 10 charitable houses, organising vocational training courses for 3,000 young people and providing free treatment and medicines to the poor.
Da Nang Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union joined hands with the Traffic Safety Board and Department of Education and Training to launch ‘Youth Month 2012’ on the same day.
The event was also organised in the central highland province of Kon Tum.
