Cold spell forecasted to come soon

Deputy Director of the Central Meteorology Hydrology Forecast Center Le Thanh Hai reported that this year’s weather phenomenon has had extraordinary changes compared to last year. Particularly, a number of rains and storms have occurred in Vietnam less than the recent years.

In the first nine months of this year, three storms and two tropical low pressures has just entered in the area of East Sea, being less than many recent years and the same period in 2013.

The Central Meteorology Hydrology Forecast Center announced that Vietnam has faced with 15 rains and 15 heat waves on the large scale from May until now.

In the previous rainy season, the daily temperatures across the country increased higher than the same period last year with the temperature of 0.5 -1.5 degree Celsius.  Thus, it shows that this year’s rainfall is less than last year; on the contract, the temperature has increased higher than the same period last year.

According to forecast weather, meteorological effects caused by El-Nino will occur in the end of this year. From now until December, around 1-2 storms or tropical low pressures are predicted to hit Vietnam.

In addition, the cold weather will also operate earlier over the same period last year. The first cold spells are predicted to occur in the first haft of December. In this year’s winter, the temperature in the Northern provinces will increase from 0, 5 – 1, 5 degree Celsius over annually.
