Cold spell hits north

A cold front is heading towards the northern region of Vietnam, causing heavy rainfalls and flashflood in the region.

Because of an influence of the cold weather and the powerful wind, the northern provinces, the north- Delta region, the provinces from Thanh Hoa to Thua Thien- Hue and provinces of Hoa Binh, Son La, Yen Bai, Phu Tho, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An and Ha Tinh have experienced small- medium rains from October 10-12.

Total rainfall in the areas was measured at 100- 200 mm.

From October 10-11, the Thao, Lo and Hoang Long river valley and the Thai Binh upstream river are expected to appear in the flashflood.

The natural disaster of landslide and flooding are warned in lowlands of the northern mountainous provinces as Ha Giang, Tuyen Quang, Lao Cai, Yen Bai, Son La, Hoa Binh and provinces from Thanh hoa to Thua Thien- Hue.
