Downpour & flashflood kill 9, leave 2 missing

Downpour and flashflood caused serious damages to people and the property in the northern mountainous provinces of Thai Nguyen, Cao Bang, Ha Giang, Dien Bien and Hoa Binh in previous days.

At a meeting of the Central Steering Committee on Natural Disaster Prevention this morning, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development reported that heavy rains and floods killed nine and left two missing in the northern mountainous provinces.

Among them, four dead were defined in Thai Nguyen province. 

Next, Ha Giang and Dien Bien had two dead for each province. Hoa Binh reported one dead.

Two missing were defined in two provinces of Ha Giang and Cao Bang. 

The natural disaster destroyed 80 houses. 

The National Hydrology Meteorology Forecast Center warned that the bad weather condition of heavy rain and flashflood would continue to be very complicated. 

Both the northern and north- central provinces are predicted to continue suffering heavy rains by July 12. Thus, local people need to eye the current complicated weather situation to move timely to safety places.
