Downpour hits north

The National Hydrology Meteorology Forecast Center reported that low pressure trough and ongoing cold front yesterday caused medium- heavy rains in Ha Giang, Cao Bang and Hanoi.

The downpour brings comfortable weather after heatwave hit the areas nationwide in last days.

Medium- heavy rains in combination with thunderstorms also shouldered over the northern mountainous provinces of Lao Cai, Yen Bai, Son La and Hoa Binh because of an influence of a low pressure trough being compressed by a continental high pressure system in the north. 

The downpour has experienced on the large scale with its peak rainfall, being caused a small flooding in upstream rivers of Thao, Lo and Cau in the upcoming days.

Both the southern and Central Highlands region also suffered the rainy weather. Thus, local people have to prepare for thunderstorm, cyclone, hail and powerful wind.

The southern territorial waters from Binh Thuan to Ca Mau, from Ca Mau to Kien Giang and Gulf of Thailand, including Truong Sa (Spratly) Islands saw showery weather and thunderstorm.

Meanwhile, the central region is forecast to continue suffering long term hot air on the large scale.

Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development warned high risk of forest fire in Thua Thien- Hue, Quang Ngai and Binh Dinh provinces.
