Downpours hitting northern mountainous and midland region

Because of an influence of tropical storm Hato, torrential rainfalls have been predicted to hit the northern mountainous and midland provinces from August 23- 25.

Yesterday, the typhoon was located at Guangdong province of China with its powerful wind of level 11- 13. 

Within next few hours, storm Hato is predicted to quickly move the west- northwestwards and entered the mainland of Guangxi and Guangdong provinces of China before it weakened into the tropical- low pressure system. 

By today evening, typhoon Hato is predicted to be at the borderline between Vietnam and China. The strongest wind can gust level 6-8. 

Amid to the current bad weather condition, the Central Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control yesterday held an emergency meeting later in the day to discuss measures to cope with the storm under the chair of Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Hoang Van Thang.

The Central Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control asked the localities to eye the current weather condition in the sea and mainland to absolutely ensure safety of residents and property. 

The typhoon circulation in combination with powerful wind could cause the flashflood and landside in Quang Ninh, Cao Bang, Lang Son, Ha Giang province etc etc…

In order to deal with the typhoon, the Central Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control required  Son La and Hoa Binh hydropower plants to open one more its sluice gates to ensure reservoir safety. 

According to the Hydrology Meteorology Forecast Center of Lao Cai province, a cyclone in combination with thunderstorm and strong wind suddenly swept through the province, uprooted trees & billboards and caused power failures on the large scale.
