Floods forecasted for May

The National Center of Hydrometeorology Forecasting May 2 said the water-level in rivers in southern of central provinces, highland provinces and in Dong Nai River would rise by one to two meters in the first days of this month.

In the Mekong Delta, salt water intrusion would continue in the first ten days of this month but not as seriously as last month, thanks to the increase of rainfall lately.

The center said by the end of this month, there would be floods in most of the rivers in the central and highland regions.

Last month, salt water crept widely into most of the Mekong River’s lower provinces. Salt water intrusion has caused damage to more than 25,000 hectares of agricultural land in Ca Mau Province.
