Floodwater increasing rapidly in central region’s rivers

The high rainfall caused rapid floodwater increase in local river systems from Quang Ngai to Ninh Thuan  provinces reported the National Hydrology Meteorology Forecast Center.

Particularly, the highest rainfall was measured at over 31 mm in Ba To, Gia Vuc (Quang Ngai); at 27- 31 mm in the areas of An Nghia and Ho Diem Tieu (Binh Dinh); at 168 mm in commune of Hinh River (district of Hinh River, Phu Yen); at 109- 125 mm in areas of Thanh Son, Khanh Dong (Khanh Hoa); at 95 mm in commune of Ea M’doan (M’Đrak district, Dak Lak) respectively. 

By 1pm, the flood level in the central region’s river systems was alerted at level 2.

Within next 24 hours, the floodwater is warned to continue rising rapidly in rivers from Quang Ngai to Ninh Thuan; and be alerted at level 2-3. 

Landslide, flashflood and flooding are expected to hit the lowland areas of the provinces from Quang Ngai to Ninh Thuan and Dak Lak; especially the districts of Tra Bong, Son Tay, Son Ha, Ba To and Minh Long (Quang Ngai), Van Canh, An Lao, Vinh Thanh, Hoai An, Phu Cat, Hoai Nhon and Tuy Phuoc (Binh Dinh), Khanh Vinh, Khanh Son, Cam Ranh, Dien Khanh, Van Ninh, Ninh Hoa (Khanh Hoa), Tuy Hoa, Dong Xuan, Hinh River, Son Hoa, Cau River (Phu Yen), M’Đrak, Ea Kar, Krong Bong (Dak Lak).

Due to an impact of the ongoing cold air mass and the east monsoon, medium- heavy rains yesterday swept through the provinces from Ha Tinh to Phu Yen. 

The highest temperature in the northern mountainous provinces kept at 21- 22 degrees Celsius.

The cold front began spreading out the central region; in particular, the highest temperature in the provinces from Thanh Hoa to Ha Tinh reached at 21- 22 degrees Celsius, at 23- 24 degrees Celsius in the provinces from Quang Binh to Khanh Hoa, at 25- 27 degrees Celsius in the provinces from Da Nang to Quang Ngai, and at 31- 32 degrees Celsius in the provinces from Ninh Thuan to Binh Thuan. 

The highest temperature in the central highlands region kept at 26- 29 degrees Celsius while the highest temperature in the southern region reached at 29- 32 degrees Celsius. 

The powerful operation of cold air blew the northeast monsoon at level 5-7 in the central offshore water, and at level 6- 9 in the north part of the East Sea.
