A heat wave sweeping HCMC is expected to raise temperatures to 40 degrees Celsius from April to mid-May, according to the Southern Regional Hydro Meteorological Center.
Areas in the south experienced temperatures of 38-39 degrees Celsius in the last week.
Average temperatures will range from 37 to 39 degrees with each heat wave lasting five to seven days.
In the northern region, a cold front is moving southwards and forecast to affect northern provinces by late March 20, according to the National Hydro Meteorological Forecasting Center.
The cold front will cause medium to heavy rain in the northern and central regions and rough sea. Mountainous areas might suffer chilly weather on March 21-22.
