The announcement was made by Mr. Nguyen Kiet, head of the forecast division under the Southern Hydro Meteorological Center.
According to him, some other areas in the southern region will also see medium to heavy rains.
The zone triggered heavy rain causing flooding in many streetsin HCMC yesterday afternoon.
Of these, Do Xuan Hop street was submerged under 30 centimeters of floodwater, much slowing vehicles' travel. Hanoi Highway from Rach Chiec Bridge to Saigon Bridge was flooded under 50 centimeters causing traffic jam alongside the street and engine failures in cars.
Vo Van Ngan, Kha Van Can and Highway 13 in Thu Duc District were also badly inundated as some areas have not had drainage systems. Rainwater from surrounding areas ran into low lying Thu Duc Market, forcing traders to remove their goods to high grounds.
Other flooded streets include Le Duc Tho, Le Van Tho, Pham Van Chieu in Go Vap district; Phan Huy Ich in District 12; Tran Xuan Soan and Lam Van Ben in District 4 and Huynh Tan Phat in District 7.
