Mekong's farmers find measures to deal with drought

Currently, four Mekong Delta provinces including Kien Giang, Tien Giang, Ben Tre and Soc Trang announced the ongoing natural disaster is due to drought and saltwater influx.

Accordingly, Kien Giang has suffered the most damage by the dry weather and saltwater intrusion covering 34, 000 hectares of the winter-spring rice crops.

Dealing with the extreme drought and saltwater influx, Plant Cultivation Department encouraged farmers should use efficiency of drought and salinity tolerant rice varieties.
