North region to suffer heavy downpour and flood

The National Hydrology Meteorology Forecast Center yesterday suggested localities and residents in the northern region to keep eye on upcoming downpour and flood.

A huge wave of chilling temperature in combination with trough of west wind have resulted outbreak of the natural disaster in the northern provinces.  

Because of its influence, medium- heavy downpours, thunderstorm, lightning, cyclone and a gusty wind warnings will hit the northern region from January 8-9.  

Additionally, a new huge flood with high water level of 1 to 2.5 meters is forcast to appear in upper sources of Hong river.

The center also warned of landslide in the northern mountainous areas especially in Lai Chau, Son La, Lao Cai, Yen Bai and Ha Giang.
