The National Hydro Meteorological Forecasting Center has said that a hot low pressure zone in the west is fast gaining in strength and moving towards Vietnam, which will eventually result in a severe heat wave across the northern and central regions.
Temperatures in the northern and central regions will gradually increase within the next one to two days.
Mercury will rise to 37-39 degrees Celsius in the north-central provinces of Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh and Quang Binh and 37-38 degrees in Hanoi and the northern region.
Southern and Central Highland regions will remain sunny in daytime and experience some showers in the afternoons with temperatures hovering around 32-35 degrees Celsius.
