Thunderstorm and hail blow up hundreds of house roofs

The Central Steering Committee on Natural Disaster Prevention and Control, the National Hydrology Meteorology Forecast Center reported that hail and thunderstorm yesterday caused serious damages  in the Northern region’s localities.

Thunderstorm in combination with a gusty wind of level 8 blew up 170 house roofs, classroom roofs and destroyed 35 kV electrical lines across districts of Bao Thang, Bac Ha and Bao Yen in Lao Cai province. 

Additionally, the natural disaster damaged  more than 900 poultry and hectares of vegetable and fruit crops.

The cyclone destroyed 18 houses in Thuong Ha and Vinh Yen communes of Bao Yen district. 

The same weather condition caused serious damages in Thanh Hoa province’s localities. . Fortunately,no boby was hurt in the natural disaster. 

The National Hydrology Meteorology Forecast Center said that the whole country has faced severe weather condition of record-breaking heatwave, hail, cyclone and thunderstorm. 

As forecast, the Northern and North- Central regions are expected to see medium- heavy downpours and thunderstorms on the large scale on April 30 and May 1. So, people need to look out cyclone, lightning, hail and powerful wind. 

Meanwhile, the Central region is warned with the hottest days with an average temperature of 35- 37 degrees Celsius due to an impact of low pressure trough connecting with a hot- low pressure zone.
