Tropical depression to affect Vietnam weather near Tet holidays

A low pressure zone east off the Phillipines is forecast to enter the East Sea toward the northern part of the Truong Sa (Spratly) Islands in days before the Tet Holiday and might intensify into a tropical depression or storm.

According to the National Hydro Meteorological Forecasting Center, it is unlikely to move into mainland Vietnam but weaken at sea.
The weather in the sea will be bad on February 12-13, the 27th and 28th day in the 12th lunar month.
In related news, a cold front has slammed into Vietnam making it rainy and cold again in northern and central regions from February 10 after a brief warm period.
Central provinces from Ha Tinh to Quang Ngai will see medium to heavy rainfall. Nothern provinces will be very cold with temperatures dropping to 11-14 degree Celsius in lowlands and 8-11 degrees in mountainous areas. The mercury in the highland will fall below 5 degrees and frost might occur.
HCMC and southern region will be hot and sunny with increasing unseasonable rains during the Tet holiday.
