Typhoon Dianmu to make landslide in northern region

According to Director of the National Hydrology Meteorology Forecast Center Mr. Hoang Duc Cuong, the intensity of tropical typhoon Dianmu may operate strongerly after it hits Gulf of Tonkin and makes landslide in the northern province with the powerful wind of level 9- 13 this afternoon.

The typhoon is going to directly affect to the northern central provinces from Quang Ninh to Nghe An.

The National Steering Committee on Natural Disaster Prevention and Control yesterday held an online meeting with affected areas of the northern and northern central provinces by the on- going typhoon under chair of Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung.

Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development and Chief of the National Steering Committee on Natural Disaster Prevention and Control Mr. Nguyen Xuan Cuong said that the northern region has more than 2, 000 places locating in damaged areas of landslide and flash flood. Thus, local authorities and functional forces need to initiatively instruct and move residents, vessels to safety places, and control closely tourism operations in Quang Ninh and Hai Phong.

The deputy PM also asked the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, the Ministry of Information and Communications should quickly provide latest news about the super storm to residents and fishing vessel owners.

On the same day, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc had a work at the National Hydrology Meteorology Forecast Center to direct information announcement as well as on- going weather forecast of the storm.  He also reminded the agency need to constantly update the lastest newsletter and weather forecast.

Mr. Nguyen Xuan Phuc sent a request on measures against heavy rains and flash flood to Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, the National Hydrology Meteorology Forecast Center and local authorities

According the latest news from the National Hydrology Meteorology Forecast Center, typhoon Dianmu was located at 20, 4 degrees north latitude and 106, 7 degrees longitude of Gulf of Tonkin at 7am today. Maximum wind near the center blew at level 6- 10.

On the same day, it will be positioned at 20, 5 degrees north latitude and 105, 2 degrees east longitude, and move at 52 kilometers per hour at 7 pm today.

By 7m Saturday, the on-going typhoon will be at 20, 7 degrees north latitude and 102, 8 degrees east longitude.
