Typhoon Kirogi weakens into tropical- low depression

This year’s the 14th typhoon hitting the East Sea named Kirogi which was located at around 200 kilometers of the eastward in the territorial waters of the south- central provinces from Khanh Hoa- Ninh Thuan- Binh Thuan, weakened into a tropical- low pressure zone this early morning.

According to the National Hydrology Meteorology Forecast Center, the depression was centered in the offshore waters of Khanh Hoa, Ninh Thuan and Binh Thuan province with its maximum wind near the center of up to 40- 60 kilometers per hour at 4am. 

Within next 12- 24 hours, the tropical- low pressure system is predicted to move the westward at a speed of 20 kilometers an hour and enter the mainland of Khanh Hoa, Ninh Thuan and Binh Thuan provinceps before it is expected to weaken into a low-pressure zone in the south part of Cambodia. The strongest wind near the center could gust up to level 6- 8.

By 4pm, its eye will be paralleled at 11.4 degrees north latitude and 108.2 degrees east longitude in the mainland of Khanh Hoa, Ninh Thuan, Binh Thuan and Lam Dong provinces with a speed of up to 40- 50 kilometers per hour. 

The weather center also warned that the offshore waters from Binh Dinh to Ba Ria- Vung Tau including the Phu Quy Island have experienced powerful wind of level 6-9, big wave of 2- 4 meters and sea rough.

 

Wind blows level 6-8 in the mainland of Khanh Hoa, Ninh Thuan and Binh Thuan, even gusts up to level 6-7in Phu Yen and the south- Central Highlands region. 

Meanwhile, the provinces from Quang Nam to Binh Thuan and the Central Highlands provinces have suffered medium- heavy rains.

From tonight, its circulation in combination with the powerful operation of ongoing cold front will cause torrential rain in the north and north- central regions.  

From November 19- 24, a flashflood is warned to occur in the rivers from Ha Tinh to Binh Thuan, the Central Highlands region and Dong Nai River.

The floodwater level in river systems from Quang Tri to Binh Dinh is alerted at level 2-3 while water level in the rivers of Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Phu Yen, Binh Dinh, the Central Highlands and Dong Nai River is alerted at level 1-2.
